See how Zakati counts the year

Zakat is due when your wealth stays above 85 g of gold for one lunar year. Then 2.5% of it goes to those in need.

Three rules, easy to state and hard to keep. Balances change, the gold price changes, and the Hijri year never lines up with your bank statements. Zakati keeps all three in view for you.

From first entry to due date

How Zakati calculates
  1. Step 1

    Add what you hold

Create accounts for savings, gold and silver. Choose the currency, karat or unit for each one.

Weighed against 85 g of gold

  2. Step 2

    Log changes as they happen

Record deposits, withdrawals and balance updates with their dates, in Hijri or Gregorian.

    Followed through one lunar year

  3. Step 3

Know what is due, and when

Zakati values everything daily, checks it against the nisab, and shows your due date and amount.

    2.5% on the due date

A year, measured by the moon

When the moon of Ramadan returns, a full hawl has passed and your zakat is due.

The hawl runs from 2 Ramadan 1447 to 1 Ramadan 1448, a full Hijri year of 355 days.

Every day, checked against the nisab

The nisab moves with the price of gold, and your balance moves with life. Zakati compares the two on every day of the hawl, so you know whether it held. Drag across the year to see any day.

1 Ramadan 1448 / 8 February 2027

The gold nisab: 85 grams of pure gold, valued at that day's gold price. Zakati uses gold rather than silver for the threshold. If you follow the silver nisab, your threshold will be lower than the one the app shows.
