Terms of service
Last updated 1 November 2026
These terms explain what you can expect from Zakati and what we expect from you. We've kept them as plain as we can. Please read them alongside our privacy policy.
1Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Wahaj Labs ("we", "us") for your use of the Zakati app and website (together, "Zakati"). By creating an account or using Zakati, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Zakati.
2What Zakati does
Zakati helps you record your cash, gold and silver, values them using daily market prices, compares them with a gold-based nisab of 85 grams, tracks a Hijri year (hawl) using the Umm al-Qura calendar and calculates zakat at 2.5%.
Zakati is a calculation tool, not a religious ruling or financial advice. Schools of thought differ on matters such as the nisab, the treatment of debts, jewellery, business assets and interrupted hawls. You are responsible for how much zakat you pay and to whom. For questions about your own situation, consult a qualified scholar.
3Your account
- You must give accurate information when you sign up.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4Your information
The holdings and notes you enter belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Zakati to you. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
5Prices and accuracy
Gold, silver and exchange rates come from third-party market data and are updated daily. They may be delayed, differ from the price you could actually buy or sell at, or occasionally be unavailable. Results depend on the information you enter. We work to keep Zakati accurate, but we don't guarantee that every figure is free of error. Please review your results before acting on them.
6Acceptable use
When using Zakati, you agree not to:
- break any law or use Zakati for fraud;
- try to access other people's accounts or parts of the service you are not meant to;
- interfere with, overload, or reverse engineer the service, except where the law allows it;
- copy, resell or redistribute Zakati or its data.
7Our intellectual property
Zakati, including its design, software, name and logo, belongs to Wahaj Labs. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms and to the rules of the store you downloaded it from.
8App Store and Google Play
If you downloaded Zakati from Apple's App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and Wahaj Labs only, not Apple or Google. We, not they, are responsible for Zakati and its content, for maintenance and support, and for handling any claims about it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and intellectual property claims.
If you downloaded Zakati from the App Store: your licence is limited to using it on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If Zakati fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
9Changes to Zakati and these terms
We may improve, change or stop parts of Zakati. We may also update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Zakati after that means you accept the new terms.
10Ending your use
You can stop using Zakati and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put other users or the service at risk. We will tell you why when we can.
11Disclaimers and liability
Zakati is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those set out in these terms.
To the extent the law allows, Wahaj Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on Zakati's calculations, including the amount of zakat you pay. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Wahaj Labs is established, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections in the country where you live. If a part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
